Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The third and final stage of reconstruction of the aerodrome complex has been completed at the Termez Airport.
As part of this stage, construction of the second taxiway RD-A and a section of the main taxiway was completed. The width of the LOAD-BEARING part of each taxiway is 23 meters, with a total width of 44 meters. This will allow wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787, Boeing 777, and Airbus 330 to taxi without restrictions. Additionally, construction of a ramp area for three aircraft parking stands and installation of lighting equipment has been completed.
For the construction of the ramp, as well as for the runway, cement concrete was used. This is an optimal solution in the hot climate conditions of Surkhandarya region, as such covering is more durable and long-lasting.
It is worth noting that the II stage of reconstruction, started in late 2020, was completed in December 2022. During this stage, a significant part of the category 4E aerodrome complex was built, including a new runway 3000 meters long and 60 meters wide, taxiways, and a ramp for three aircraft parking stands. A modern CAT-I ICAO lighting signal system, meteorological, and radio navigation landing system was also installed.
It should be noted that the last reconstruction of the aerodrome complex of "Termez" airport was carried out in 1989.
