Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in London has organized negotiations between the Director General of the Agency of Cinematography of our country Firdavs Abdukhalikov and the Executive Director of the British organization in the field of the film industry Kino Klassika Foundation Justin Waddell, Dunyo news agency reported.

The event was also attended by the director of the Republican Film Fund of Uzbekistan Eldjon Abbasov.

The British side was informed about the efforts of Uzbekistan to restore and reform the film industry, raise the cinema art to a new level. Among them, the return from abroad and the restoration of Uzbek films for inclusion in the "golden film fund" of Uzbekistan, as well as the resumption of the activities of the Tashkent International Film Festival "Pearl of the Silk Road", formerly known as the Tashkent International Film Festival of Asia, Africa and Latin America (1968- 1988).

In turn, Justin Waddell spoke about the activities of the Kino Klassika Foundation, the implementation, with the support of the British film and television organization British Film Institute, of international projects aimed at popularizing the masterpieces of the CIS film industry in UK cinemas.

The parties expressed mutual interest in establishing cooperation and agreed to jointly implement a number of projects, including the restoration of films, holding the Days of Uzbek Cinema in London as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence and others. The head of the British foundation was also invited to take part in the Pearl of the Silk Road Tashkent International Film Festival, which is scheduled for September 2021.

The Kino Klassika Foundation, a British cultural foundation for the film industry, established in London in 2015, cooperates with about 20 British cinemas in terms of showing film materials from the CIS countries, and also implements programs for the restoration of old films. Since 2020, the fund, together with the Uzbek side, has launched the Tashkent Film Encounters project aimed at popularizing rarely shown films from Central Asia.
