Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 February 2024, a regular meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was held. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva.

At the meeting, a resolution was adopted to convene the fiftieth plenary meeting of the Senate on 9 February 2024.

It was noted that at the plenary meeting, which will be held using a video conferencing system, a number of issues are planned to be discussed.

Among them are the laws “On introducing amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the definition of measures aimed at establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with business entities to reduce poverty”, “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at improving the procedure for the execution of credit obligations and expanding the population's opportunities to use microfinance services" and "On introducing additions and changes to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on administrative responsibility, aimed at increasing the effectiveness of fire prevention."

In addition, the agenda of the next plenary meeting also includes the laws “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at further strengthening the social protection of citizens”, “On the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Children’s Rights (Children’s Ombudsman)” and "On the ratification of the International Labor Organization Convention No. 95 concerning the Security of Wages (Geneva, on 1 July 1949)."

Along with this, the senators will also consider questions about the implementation of the tasks defined in the Program of Comprehensive Measures for the implementation in 2023 of the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030 and the approval of the Program of Comprehensive Measures for its implementation in 2024, the implementation of the tasks defined in the “road maps" on the socio-economic development of the territories of the Andijan region, the state of work carried out in the Tashkent region to develop entrepreneurship and attract investment.
