Fifth plenary session of Senate to convene on 25 March
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Fifth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan will be held in Tashkent on 25 March 2011, the press service of upper house of the Uzbek parliament said.

Council of Senate adopted a resolution on convocation of the fourth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on 10 March.

The Council session noted that the main issue of the plenary session’s agenda is the law “On amendments and additions to certain articles of the Constitution of Uzbekistan (article 78, 80, 93, 96 and 98)”.

The law was prepared in accordance with the legislative initiatives outlined in the speech of President Islam Karimov “The concept of deepening democratic reforms and formation of civil society in the country” at the joint session of both chambers of the parliament on 12 November 2010.

The document is aimed at further democratization of the state power and management, ensuring a more balanced distribution of powers among the three subjects of state authority: President as head of the state, legislative and executive branches, as well as strengthening the role and influence of political parties in the implementation of socio-economic and socio-political reforms, renewal and modernization of the country.

The Senate will also consider a law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some laws of Uzbekistan in connection with adoption of the law “On amendments and additions to certain articles of the Constitution of Uzbekistan (article 78, 80, 93, 96 and 98)”.

The upper house of the Uzbek parliament will consider other laws directed at reforming and liberalization of political and social-economic life, as well as modernization of the country. Senators will discuss law “On ifnromation-library activity”, law “On introduction changes to article 4 of the law “On denationalization and privatization”, law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the law “On mandatory insurance civil liability of vehicle owners”.

The Senate will also consider law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some laws of Uzbekistan”, law “On introduction of changes to article 245 and 246 to Criminal-Procedural criminal Code of Uzbekistan”, law “On introduction of changes and amendments to law “On radiation security”.

Senators will consider the law “On accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Hague, 5 October 1961)” and law “On ratification of protocol on introduction of changes and amendments to agreement on legal status of the Collective Security Treaty Organizations from 7 October 2002 (Dushanbe, 6 October 2007)”.

The upper house will also discuss activities of sum state bodies in 2010, including Prosecutor Office, Ombudsman, Nature Protection Committee, etc. Senators will discuss changes to structure of Constitutional Court and Supreme Court of Uzbekistan.

The upper house of the Uzbek parliament will also discuss other issues, related to jurisdiction of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
