Fifth phase of CADAP programme starts
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosted a conference dedicated to implementation of the fifth phase of the Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP), financed by the European Union, Jahon news agency reported.

The event was organized by the National Information-Analytical enter on control over drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers in cooperation with German International Cooperation Society (GIZ).

Representatives of ministries and departments, which fight against narcotics, international organizations, diplomatic corps, accredited in Uzbekistan, participated at the event.

It was noted that new phase of CADAP has been launched in Tashkent. The programme comprises of three components – raising knowledge on drug situation in the country, support of modern methodologies of treatment and prevention of drug addiction, media and dissemination strategies.

The CADAP is dedicated to assisting the further development of effective, comprehensive drug policies in Central Asia and extending the achievements of previous CADAP phases. The main goal of the programme is to encourage Central Asian governments to commit to sustainable strategies in the field of drug addiction and to bring current systems of drug addict prosecution into accordance with international strategies and standards.
