The kids from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were required to perform a variety of skills such as juggling, short passing, dribbling & shooting, running with the ball and quickness in short passing.

For Kyrgyzstan’s Zhan Voinov, it was an eventful experience.

“I really enjoyed the skills test and this is the first time I have ever carried out a test like this,” he told the-afc.com. “The most exciting test for me was the running with the ball and long passing.

“I think I performed ok, but I know I could of done better. Hopefully I will be selected for my country next year and I will get better results then.”

Uzbek Javokhir Sidikov said: “I liked the skills test very much. The accuracy in short and long passing tests are my strengths. But I need to improve in a lot of technical areas.”

Rahat Japarov, a goalkeeper from Turkmenistan said he would like to see a specialised tests for goalkeepers.

“I think this would be really good, as goalkeeping requires different techniques to outfield players. To get specialised coaching would help me in my development,” he said.

Overall, the players showed that they have a good set of basic football skills, though much work needs to be done.

AFC Grassroots & Youth Director John Whittle said: “Some of the results recorded from the tests were good for this age specific group, but of course the boys will still need to work in all areas of there individual techniques in becoming quality football players.”
