Ferghana and Kashgar Become Sister Cities: Cooperation Memorandum Signed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Ferghana region, including government officials and entrepreneurs, is on a visit to Kashgar in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, holding a series of productive meetings and negotiations.

One of the key outcomes was the signing of a memorandum establishing sister-city relations between Ferghana and Kashgar. The sides agreed to promote practical cooperation in tourism, agricultural processing, construction materials production, seed farming, and the implementation of new modern projects.

A separate agreement worth US$2.5 million was signed between the travel companies “Dilrabo Travel” (Ferghana) and “Kashi Katie International Travel.”

Talks also took place between representatives of Kokand and Zepu County in Kashgar Prefecture, during which the parties discussed tourism potential, exchanged information, and explored prospects for cooperation. Agreements were signed in areas including utilities production, robotics, and other fields.

Partnership opportunities were also discussed at a meeting between officials from Altyaryk district and the city of Turpan, one of the world’s largest grape-growing centers. The Ferghana delegation familiarized itself with grape cultivation across 40,000 hectares, where 560 varieties are grown. The sides reached an understanding to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in viticulture, taking into account the potential of Altyaryk district.

As part of the visit, the guests from Ferghana also toured industrial enterprises, learned about their operations, visited Kashgar’s cultural landmarks, and took part in cultural events.
