Female M.A. Sklodowska-Curie Scholarship holders from Uzbekistan visit Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Female recipients of the M.A. Sklodowska-Curie Scholarship program had the opportunity to visit the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (a subsidiary of Rosenergoatom Concern, part of the state corporation Rosatom) to learn about the operations of the plant and the personnel management practices of Rosatom.

The event involved 16 female scholars from various countries who are currently studying in Russian universities. They toured the industrial site, the turbine halls, block units, and control panels of the energy blocks, and had a meeting with the plant's management. Additionally, a seminar on the development of leadership skills for women specialists in the nuclear energy sector was held at the Moscow branch of the Rosatom Technical Academy.

Dilfuza Tadjibaeva, a second-year master's student at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI), shared her impressions: "The most memorable moment for me during the visit to the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant was the tour of the turbine hall. I was especially impressed by how the vast amount of equipment is organized and structured so efficiently and clearly. Equally impactful was the visit to the block control panel, where you really feel the scale and importance of the work: thousands of parameters, numerous systems — and all under the continuous supervision of specialists. This trip not only gave me new knowledge but also strengthened my confidence in my chosen profession. I saw how cutting-edge technologies, attention to detail, and the highest level of responsibility from every specialist combine in practice. This inspires and motivates me to become part of such an important and reliable industry."

Anna Zubkova, also a master's student at NRNU MEPhI, commented on the work of the operators: "The work of nuclear power plant operators is serious and responsible. The level of training required from them is truly impressive. A pleasant surprise was seeing many women working in such departments as the chemical workshop and the nuclear safety and reliability department."

Several graduates of the Tashkent branch of NRNU MEPhI have received one of the most prestigious international scholarships in the nuclear field — the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Scholarship from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The program has been running since 2020 and has already established itself as one of the most significant tools for supporting women in science. The scholarship is designed for women studying nuclear physics, engineering, and related disciplines.

The selection process takes place in several stages, with approximately 100 scholarships awarded annually to female students from around the world. Among the scholarship holders from Uzbekistan over the past two years are Anna Zubkova, Khulkar Rashidova, Dilfuza Tadjibaeva, and Sarvina Akhorova.
