Experts from Uzbekistan got acquainted with the mid-term budgeting experience of the Czech Republic
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3-7 April 2017, UNDP “Local Governance Support Programme/Phase II” (LGSP-II) organized a study tour on “Midterm Budgeting at Regional Level” for high and mid level specialists from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Jizzakh, Tashkent and Namangan regional khokimiyats.

The main objective of the study tour was to learn the experience of the Czech Republic on local government bodies’ activities, particularly designing regional development strategies, public and local budgeting, implementation mechanism of mid-term budget of regions, linkage between region’s development strategy with available budget, capacity building of staff on planning and budgeting.

During the study tour participants visited the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, Office of the Southern Bohemia Region, Prague 3 Municipality and the Institute for Public Administration.

The study tour participants also reviewed the state budget legislation, budgetary system reforms in the Czech Republic and Southern Bohemia region, budget preparation and implementation processes, as well as midterm budgeting.

Delegation from Uzbekistan also learned and studied the training system of public administration officials in the Czech Republic, training courses focused on budgetary planning of territorial self-government units.

In the course of the study tour, representatives of Uzbekistan informed the Czech with the current the budget system in Uzbekistan, financing of roads and logistics systems in regions, regional budget system of Uzbekistan.

The Study tour was organized with the financial support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Uzbekistan, in partnership with the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic and United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan.
