Experts from IMRI report a decrease in vegetable and meat prices in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January 2025, experts from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted another price monitoring of food products in the largest supermarkets of Tashkent, covering 21 product categories.

The results showed that the minimum prices for 6 of these items decreased compared to the previous month.

Specifically, cucumber prices dropped by 25.2%, margarine by 8.4%, beef (filet) by 5.2%, rice by 5.0%, bananas by 2.2%, and potatoes by 2.0%.

At the same time, minimum prices for 7 product categories increased. The biggest price hike was observed for table beets, which is linked to seasonal fluctuations. Lemons also saw a significant price increase; however, compared to the same period last year, their prices remain 21.7% lower.

Prices for 8 product categories, including buckwheat, pasta, tomatoes, apples, chicken meat (fillet), milk, sugar, and sunflower oil, remained stable.

The monitoring was conducted on 9 January 2025, based on data from 12 December 2024.
