Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 March 2023, a meeting of an expert group of the CIS member states was held at the Branch of the CIS Executive Committee in Moscow using videoconferencing to agree on the draft Regulations on the basic organization of the CIS member states in the development of national nuclear infrastructures.
The Regulation was developed in pursuance of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Program for the Development of National Nuclear Infrastructures in the CIS Member States, approved by the Decision of the CIS Economic Council from 2 December 2022.
The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Commission of the CIS Member States on the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes and the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting participants discussed the submitted proposals for the draft Regulations and developed an agreed version of the document.
The status of the base organization in this area is supposed to be given to JSC Rusatom Service, which is part of the structure of the State Corporation Rosatom. The competences and experience of the company can contribute to the interaction between the CIS member states in order to develop national nuclear infrastructures and programs for the peaceful use of nuclear technologies in the CIS space in accordance with international safety standards.
The approved draft Regulations on the Basic Organization of the CIS Member States in the Development of National Nuclear Infrastructures are planned to be submitted for consideration by the CIS Economic Council in the prescribed manner.
