Expert: High density and frequency of interaction at all levels contribute to steady development of Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – High density and frequency of interaction at all levels contribute to steady development of Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations. This was stated by the First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISMI), Akramjon Ne’matov, acting as moderator of a session dedicated to political dialogue at the scientific-practical conference "Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan: Synergy of Strategic Partnership," held on 9 July in Tashkent.

The event, organized by the International Institute for Central Asia in collaboration with the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, was attended by leading analytical centers, research institutes, and representatives of ministries and agencies from both countries.

According to Akramjon Ne’matov, thanks to strong political will and joint efforts of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, it has been possible in a short period to strengthen political dialogue and trust, and to build mutually beneficial, constructive, and pragmatic bilateral relations.

"Today, our relations have reached an unprecedented trajectory of steady development, demonstrating an exemplary nature and serving as a model of interstate interaction," emphasized the expert.

Akramjon Ne’matov continued by noting that the high level of mutual trust and deep understanding of shared interests have allowed for mutually acceptable solutions to sensitive issues that previously seemed insurmountable, such as border delimitation, water management issues, and international transport projects.

He emphasized the ongoing commitment to elevate relations to the level of alliance. "There are no problems between our countries, only issues that are resolved based on principles of mutual benefit, respect, and consideration of each other’s interests," the expert affirmed.

Particular emphasis was placed on the completion of the delimitation process of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, significant increase in mutual citizen travel, steady growth in bilateral trade turnover, and initiation of industrial cooperation projects.

Moreover, as the representative of ISMI highlighted, "currently, strategically significant is the cooperation between the two countries in the implementation of transport and energy projects of regional importance."

According to Akmal Ne’matov, evidence of this are two historic events that occurred in June of this year: the signing of agreements on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and cooperation in the construction of the Kambarata-1 HPP.

The expert believes that these flagship projects are aimed at reshaping the face of Central Asia.

Summing up the session, Akmal Ne’matov underscored that the high density and frequency of interaction at all levels and on all issues contribute to the steady development of bilateral cooperation.

"The firm commitment of our countries to seek mutually acceptable compromises based on principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests becomes the foundation for sustainable development, stability, and prosperity," concluded the expert.
