Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of a visit to the United States, a delegation led by Uzbek Health Minister Amrillo Inoyatov met with representatives of the Bureau of Global Health of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

As noted during the conversation, projects implemented in recent years on the basis of USAID grants allow developing the healthcare sector in Uzbekistan in accordance with modern requirements.

The fact that bilateral cooperation has risen to a new level is evidenced by the opening of a representative office of the agency in our country in 2020.

As a result of long-term cooperation with USAID, innovative methods for diagnosing and treating tuberculosis, including solar-powered mobile X-ray machines with artificial intelligence, have begun to be applied in our country.

These approaches have increased access to TB care even in the most remote regions of our country.

It is also worth noting that during the pandemic, the agency assisted in the transfer of 9.6 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to Uzbekistan under the COVAX program. Cooperation with USAID is also being strengthened in the pharmaceutical industry.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation in the development and implementation of a national program aimed at expanding the investment package of cooperation in the field of medicine in Uzbekistan.
