Expanding active participation of women parliamentarians in socio-economic development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The third panel session focused on increasing the active participation of women parliamentarians in the socio-economic development of the region.

Over recent years, Central Asian countries have achieved significant progress in protecting the rights and legal interests of women, ensuring their active involvement in public and state governance.

In 2020, at Uzbekistan’s initiative, the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia was established to jointly address issues related to family and women, exchange experiences, and collaborate with international organizations on shared positions.

Supported by the region’s heads of state, this dialogue has evolved into a key regional platform for discussing gender equality, promoting peace and stability, and proposing long-term solutions for women’s development.

Despite this progress, participants of the session highlighted the need for additional state policy measures to fully realize women’s rights and interests.

During the session, new initiatives were proposed to enhance women’s activity in all political, economic, and social spheres, as well as to strengthen collaboration in this direction.

In line with the session’s agenda, discussions centered around involving women in addressing the socio-economic challenges of Central Asia, particularly in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 of the 2030 Agenda.

Participants exchanged views on the region’s special measures aimed at ensuring women’s full participation in socio-economic development and emphasized the need for further cooperation, including the creation of programs uniting women’s organizations across the region to protect women’s rights and increase their role in Central Asia’s socio-economic and political life.
