Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A video conference was held at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) L. Pavlova.

During the dialogue, measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to counteract the spread of coronavirus infection, as well as to reduce the impact of global crisis phenomena on the national economy and the welfare of the country's population, were discussed.

The management of the Bank praised the timeliness and effectiveness of state support for citizens and entrepreneurs in a pandemic, in particular, through the establishment of the Anti-Crisis Fund to finance a wide range of activities aimed at ensuring economic stability and public safety.

The EIB Vice-President noted that the Bank’s management, having examined the request of the Uzbek side, decided to provide financial assistance to Uzbekistan in the fight against the pandemic and its economic consequences, in connection with which the EIB will allocate 50 million EUR to support the national health system, as well as open credit lines to commercial banks of Uzbekistan in the amount of 80 million euros to finance domestic producers, exporters and small and medium-sized enterprises.
