Eurasian Mountain Resorts Alliance: Year in review and future plans

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  During a press conference at the "Tourism on the Silk Road" TITF 2024 exhibition in Tashkent, representatives of the Eurasian Mountain Resorts Alliance (EMRA) reviewed their achievements over the past year and a half.

The Alliance, which includes six resorts from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and South Korea ("Amirsoy," "Shahdag," "Rosa Khutor," "Shymbulak," "Oy Karagay," and Mona Yong Pyong), has focused on creating a unified innovative IT platform, implementing high service standards, developing a corporate university, and forming a cross-border tourism route based on regional mountain clusters.

The addition of South Korea’s MONA Yong Pyong resort has expanded the Alliance beyond the CIS, turning it into an important international platform for collaboration among ski resorts. In 2024, the Alliance held a series of key events: the first Resort Festival ("Rosa Khutor"), sports competitions ("Oy Karagay" and "Amirsoy"), a summit of resort leaders ("Oy Karagay"), and participation in a strategic session on mountain tourism development in Dushanbe.

The upcoming winter season promises to be busy, with the second Mountain Resorts Festival scheduled for March 2025 at the "Shahdag" resort, featuring masterclasses from top instructors, a gastronomic festival, folklore program, and educational modules for resort staff. A strategic session on the development of mountain tourism in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus countries will also take place during the festival.

The official EMRA website has been launched, providing information on the Alliance’s activities, the resorts it encompasses, a unified event calendar, and details about the development of a unified ski pass for tourists from Uzbekistan and other countries in Eurasia.
