EurAsEC urges Uzbekistan to settle member dues arrears before quitting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
According to the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community [EurAsEC], Uzbekistan’s arrears on member dues to the organization’s budget amounts to 31.9 million rubles, including 5.9 million rubles for 2006, 3.3 million rubles for 2007 and 22.7 million rubles for 2008, which exceed Uzbekistan’s annual dues for 2008 - 24.4 million rubles.
Information on suspending Uzbekistan’s membership was taken into consideration at a meeting of the EurAsEC bureau in St Petersburg on 25 November.
A draft resolution of an intergovernmental council of the EurAsEC was presented at the meeting.
In spite of the fact that the organization is ready to suspend Uzbekistan’s membership, the draft resolution of the intergovernmental council of the EurAsEC stipulates "proposing Uzbekistan to settle its commitments before the EurAsEC in regards of contributions to the community’s budget".
