Economy 06/09/2007 EurAsEC presidents to sign 5 Customs Union docs in Oct
The presidents of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) member-states will sign in Dushanbe in early October five out of 23 documents to form the Customs Union, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Naryshkin told a meeting of the EurAsEC integration committee on Wednesday.

According to Naryshkin, "the package of documents is passing domestic regulatory procedures in the EurAsEC member-states", five out of 23 will be ready for signing in October, Prime-Tass reported.

Naryshkin said the meeting had addressed targeted programs to create the common automated information system to control customs transit within the EurAsEC and to consolidate outer boundaries. The programs will be considered by the EurAsEC Economic Council.

The integration committee also approved the provision regarding the migration policy council. "Labor migration is a crucial issue now, and the council will deal with it," the vice-premier said.

Naryshkin said the meeting decided to extend EurAsEC General Secretary Grigory Rapota’s tenure for three years.

The EurAsEC includes Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine are EurAsEC observers.
