EU launches new project in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The European Union launched a project “Assisting reforms in judicial-legal system in Uzbekistan”, UzA reported.

The project is designed for three years and directed at assisting law enforcement bodies in ensuring rule of law, increasing potential in improving law enforcement practice, strengthening responsibilities of law enforcement bodies in administration of justice in criminal cases, etc.

The project is directed at disseminating best practices and experience of various countries in priority direction for Uzbekistan and the European Union, the head of the EU delegation in Uzbekistan Ambassador Norbert Jousten.

This project will be supporting mechanism in conducting judicial-legal reforms and become pilot model to reform other sectors.

It will also allow to establish direct cooperation between corresponding bodies of Uzbekistan and Europe. The project will help the European specialists to familiarize with the Uzbek legal system and learn experience of the Uzbek colleagues.

Ministry of Justice, General Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Interior Affairs and Research Center under Supreme Court of Uzbekistan are national partners of the project.

The EU will be represented by German Fund for International Legal Cooperation under the Federal Ministry of Justice of Germany, German International Cooperation Society, Agency for International Legal Cooperation of France, and Cooperation of Northern Ireland with foreign countries.
