EU-Central Asia conference on interconnectedness starts in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The EU-Central Asia International Conference on Interconnectivity: Global Gateway started its work in Samarkand this morning, Dunyo news agency reported.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov read out the greeting message of the Head of our state to the participants of the International Conference "European Union - Central Asia" on interconnectedness in Samarkand.

The conference is attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, high-ranking officials of the EU member states, international financial institutions and the private sector, experts, as well as representatives of civil society.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell spoke at the International Conference "European Union - Central Asia" on interconnectivity in Samarkand.

During the conference, participants are expected to discuss the development of cooperation between the EU and the countries of Central Asia in order to promote sustainable interconnection in accordance with the EU Global Gate Initiative, the development of coordinated measures in support of green development and recovery from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
