Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An environmental inspection has begun in Tashkent, focusing on improving air quality, according to the city administration's press service.
The Tashkent administration noted that the expansion of economic activities and the growth of businesses, particularly greenhouse farms in and around Tashkent, have had a negative impact on the environment, deteriorating air quality and affecting residents' health.
The inspection aims to ensure that enterprises comply with environmental standards for heating equipment. The working group includes specialists from the ecology department, cadaster service, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Tashkent city police, UzHydromet, tax committee, and city administration, who document violations using specialized equipment.
Strict measures are being enforced for violations. Enterprises using coal-fired boilers are required to install ash-capturing filters. Those employing air-polluting materials, such as tires or fuel oil, must switch to coal systems with filtration; otherwise, their operations may be suspended.
All facilities using combustion-based heating systems are now listed in a special registry and will undergo unscheduled inspections during the heating season. Greenhouses, food service establishments, and open-flame cooking venues will also be monitored closely.
The city administration urged Tashkent residents to take steps to improve the capital’s environmental conditions and prevent air pollution.
