He said that currently eight enterprises with foreign investments are operating in Navoi free industrial and economic zone (FIEZ). They are relatively small and equipped with modern equipment, which was supplied by foreign investors and they produce import-replacing and export oriented products, he added.
Naim Niyozov said two enterprises produce polyethylene and polypropylene pipes of various sections, diameters and purpose, two more enterprises specialize on production of copper pipes for car generators and spare parts for them.
He said that four enterprises produce special digital TV receivers, shampoos, lotions, creams and other cosmetic products, as well as specialize on long storage of fruits and vegetables.
He added that currently, the assembly of technology at mini-plants on production of LCD-displays, diapers and other children hygiene products will be completed soon. He said that they will be commissioned soon.
The Uzbek official said that construction of mini-plants on production of optic-fiber cable, compressors for gas fuelling stations, diode energy saving lamps. It is planned that six more enterprises will be launched at Navoi FIEZ by the end of 2011.
He underlined that total 20 projects will be carried out in near future and it is planned to attract investments for over US$100 million.
Navoi free industrial-economic zone was founded in December 2008 in accordance with the President’s decree to create favorable conditions for attracting foreign investments to Uzbekistan, create modern highly technological enterprises and develop the country’s industrial potential and industrial, transport and social infrastructure.
