Energy, oil products were main export items of Uzbekistan in 1Q

About 52.5% of Uzbek exports fell to share of energy and oil products in the first three months of 2009. The share of energy and oil products in exports of Uzbekistan grew 3.3 times year-on-year.
Exports of services fell by 0.1 percentage point year-on-year to 10.5%. Share of cotton-fiber in exports decreased from 16% in the first quarter of 2008 to 8.8% in the same period of 2009 (down 58.6% year-on-year).
Uzbekistan’s export of food products slipped from 4.6% in January-March 2008 to 3.3% in the same period of 2009, chemical products from 7.9% to 5.3%, ferrous and non-ferrous metals from 9.5% to 4.3% and machines and equipment from 8.3% to 2.2%.
Exports of Uzbekistan grew by 6.1% year-on-year to US$2.493 billion in the reporting period.
