Energy and water supply issues were discussed by the heads of relevant departments of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 July 2023, a meeting of the heads of the energy departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan).

The parties discussed a number of issues related to the planned supply of electricity in the autumn-winter period, the provision of irrigation water to the country's peasant farms during the growing season, as well as the implementation of a joint project for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

In particular, the ministers analyzed the readiness of the countries' energy facilities for the autumn-winter period, mutual redundancy, capacity regulation and planned supplies of electricity, ensuring its transit.

“We had a complete understanding on this issue. Everyone understands that for the successful passage of the autumn-winter maximum loads, coordination and joint coordinated activities are necessary,” said Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev, commenting on the results of the meeting.

The issue of providing countries with irrigation water during the growing season was also considered. The heads of the water management departments reaffirmed all their earlier commitments to supply water in the required volumes.

When discussing the project for the joint construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, the heads of the energy departments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan noted the importance of its implementation in order to increase the supply of clean electricity to the region, as well as stable water supply to the countries.

“In addition, we discussed plans for the development of energy systems in the region. Both in Kazakhstan, and in Uzbekistan, and in Kyrgyzstan, there are quite large-scale plans for the construction of new generation, including renewable energy sources. And this requires the creation of new regimes, the creation of new lines, including interstate power lines, substations. And we agreed to create a single working group that will coordinate all these issues, ensure the optimal development of our unified energy system, optimal flow regimes, issues of using generation, mutual redundancy,” A. Satkaliyev said.

All agreements reached during the meeting will be separately reported to the heads of government of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
