Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Employees of the State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan detained officials while accepting a bribe.

According to the press service of the State Security Service, the deputy khokim of the Khavast district of the Syrdarya region was detained. He demanded US$20,000 in exchange for not confiscating land belonging to a company engaged in the production and export of agricultural products into the khokimiyat reserve. He also promised to create conditions for irrigation work and not interfere in the company’s activities. The deputy khokim was detained while receiving part of the amount of US$1,000.

The head of the department and engineer of the Tashkent regional branch of Territorial Electric Networks JSC was detained. They demanded a bribe of US$39,000 from the head of the company for connecting a confectionery production enterprise in the Kibray region to a three-phase electrical network, installing a transformer and drawing up technical documentation. The engineer was caught receiving US$30 thousand of the requested amount.

A senior investigator of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Karshi district of Kashkadarya region was detained for taking a bribe. He demanded US$1.5 thousand for refusing to initiate criminal proceedings against the entrepreneur. State Security Service officers detained him while receiving US$400 of the requested amount.

Criminal cases have been initiated in all of these cases. The suspects are in custody.
