Representatives of the government of Uzbekistan, heads of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations, accredited in Tashkent, scientific and cultural circles of Uzbekistan and others participated at the event.
On the eve of the Navruz, Embassy in cooperation with Azerbaijani families sent gifts to 55 low-income Azerbaijani families in Tashkent.
Opening the event, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan Akif Aliev congratulated all with the holiday. He briefed the guests with history of Navruz and efforts of the Azerbaijan, made for international recognition of the Navruz.
At the Cultural Center, the guests were invited to taste Azeri national cuisine, while musicians and dancers presented their works at the event.
Navruz marks the New Year and the beginning of spring across a vast geographical area covering, inter alia, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. It is celebrated on 21 March every year, a date originally determined by astronomical calculations.
