Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On measures to improve the waste management system and reduce their negative impact on the environment.”

According to the document, the practice of temporarily limiting the acceptance of payments for electricity for subscribers who have debts for garbage collection will be gradually introduced.

In particular, from 1 June, this practice will be introduced in Tashkent, Nukus and regional centers. Restrictions will be introduced if the subscriber is in arrears in paying for garbage removal for 6 months.

From 1 November, this practice will be introduced in all regions of Uzbekistan. In this case, restrictions will be applied to subscribers with a debt of 3 months.

From 1 January 2025, restrictions will be introduced on paying for electricity for a 1-month debt on garbage in all regions.

Consumers who have not cleared their debt for garbage collection after prior SMS notification will not be able to pay for electricity services.

The innovation will not affect consumers not connected to an automated system for monitoring and accounting for electricity (ASCAE).
