Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Eight people died and six were injured as a result of the descent of the village of Kasansay district of Namangan region. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The mudflow melted due to heavy rains in Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan. As a result of precipitation, the Kasansay River flowing through the Obod makhalla overflowed its banks.
According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, eight people died and six were injured as a result of the mudflow.
Representatives of the Department of Emergency Situations, the Department of Internal Affairs, the prosecutor's office and the khokimiyat arrived at the scene of the incident. Search and rescue operations are underway. A preliminary investigation is underway on this fact.
