Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A ceremony was held at the Palace of Culture "Metallurg" in Almalyk for the graduation of students from the Almalyk branch of NITU MISiS.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Board of Almalyk MMC S.B. Shermatov, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan I.B. Matveev, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Mining and Geological Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan Z.S. Karimjonov, as well as representatives of the branch’s business partners.
The event commenced with a video showcasing the university’s activities, followed by a welcome address from the Rector of MISiS, A. Chernikova, to the students. The guests of the ceremony awarded bachelor’s diplomas to 70 graduates in fields such as "Metallurgy" and "Automation of Production and Technological Processes."
Thirteen graduates completed their studies with honors. The majority of the university’s graduates find employment in enterprises across our country, while approximately 30% continue their education in master’s programs at universities in Russia.
The festive atmosphere was complemented by lively music from the symphony orchestra of the Tashkent State Philharmonic and a concert program prepared by creative groups from the Palace of Culture "Metallurg."
A group of students expressed their gratitude to mentors, teachers, and the leadership of Almalyk MMC, which consistently supports the university.
The Almalyk branch of MISiS was established by the President’s decree on May 11, 2018, and serves as an educational institution preparing highly qualified specialists in technology and engineering. The first graduates in the fields of "Metallurgy" and "Technological Processes and Automation of Production" completed their studies at the university in 2022. In 2024, the branch graduated its first batch of mining specialists.
Starting from the academic year 2024-2025, in addition to the existing bachelor’s programs in "Metallurgy," "Technological Processes and Automation of Production," and "Mining," the university will admit students in two new specialties – "Information Technology" and "Economics." Future plans include enrollment for the specialty of "Energy."
Currently, Uzbekistan hosts 14 branches of major Russian universities. Additionally, agreements have been reached to open three more branches of leading Russian universities, making Uzbekistan the leader in this regard globally.
