Economy 25/02/2008 EDI to set up training centre at Uzbekistan
In the past few years, the institute has already spread its presence overseas under the CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam) countries programme, a joint initiative of EDI and the external affairs ministry.

The institute conducts short duration programmes in grassroots entrepreneurship at its foreign centres. For the CLMV programme, the Indian government had earlier pledged a sum of US$1.4 million, of which some amount has already been invested as initial capital for the formation of these centres.

The capital would be utilised to hire the required manpower, training of faculty, establishing English language centres, computers, telephones, ordering books, stationery and certain amount per month to each country as operational cost.

For the first two years, each of the countries would have an Indian director as consultant, who would also be involved in the process of training locals and establishing wider network with various international funding organisations.

It offers two main programmes — Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE) and a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management of NGOs (PGDMN).
