Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Uzbekistan are negotiating the country’s membership in the financial institution.

“We really communicate with Uzbekistan, and many positions have been brought closer. So far, this is probably one of the most realistic candidates for joining the bank,” said Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB Board, at the ADFIAP conference, RIA Novosti writes.

At the same time, he noted that potentially all countries of the "Eurasian region" could become members of the EDB.

“I would very much like to see both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan among the participants of the bank. I hope these countries will also join the bank over time,” Podguzov concluded.

EDB is an international financial organization. Its participants are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
