Economy of Jizzakh region grows by 14.4% in 1H 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The gross regional product of Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan grew by 14.4% year-on-year, the state-run agency UzA reported.

The volume of industrial output increased by 17.3%, agriculture production – 6.1%, capital investments – 13%, construction works – 39.7%, retail trade turnover – 16% and paid services – 13.6%.

The region realized 69 industrial projects in the reporting period and attracted 5.6 billion soums and US$1.5 million of investments. Some 690 new jobs were created in the result.

In last six months, 1,121 small businesses were opened in the region and they created over 17,900 new jobs. Share of small business in industry reached 41.8%, agriculture – 99.8%, construction – 90.6%, retail trade turnover – 46.3%, paid services to population – 48.1%, cargo transportation – 46.9% and passenger transportation – 91.5%.

Due to all sources, the region used 237.4 billion soums of capital investments in January-June 2011, which grew by 13% year-on-year.

The region commissioned 309,200 square meters of habitations in the reporting period, as well as 127.2 km of drinking water and 35.4 km of gas supply pipelines.
