Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development led by President Suma Chakrabarti was held a meeting at the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.

During the talks, Suma Chakrabarti noted the success of ongoing economic reforms and projects implemented in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.

He said the EBRD plans to expand its activities not only in Tashkent, but also in the regions covering the energy, small business and other economic sectors. It was also noted that over the past 9 months, the EBRD signed credit lines for 10 projects worth $90 million.

Within the framework of this meeting, a Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, the State Committee for Assistance to Privatized Enterprises and Development of Competition of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development regarding cooperation in development of the capital market and financing in national currency in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The sides also discussed projects planned for joint implementation in family business, demographic dividends, development of regional cooperation, energy and others.
