Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide grants for the construction of 15 schools according to international standards in Namangan and Ferghana regions. This was reported in the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan.

A mutual agreement on this matter was signed at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which took place these days in Samarkand.

According to the ministry, cooperation with the EBRD on the construction of schools began within the framework of the Economic Forum of Uzbekistan, held in Tashkent in 2021. At the initial stage, "internal analyzes were carried out on obtaining a grant and hiring consultants." The total cost of this project is 55-75 million dollars.

Within the framework of cooperation, the activities of new state comprehensive schools in the regions of the republic will be gradually established on the basis of public-private partnerships, their maintenance and repair will be carried out by private partners. It is also planned to carry out reconstruction, construction of additional buildings and repair of existing schools.
