Earthquake in Afghanistan Felt in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 August 2025, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 struck Afghanistan, with its epicenter recorded in Badakhshan province.

The seismic event occurred at 18:27 Tashkent time at a depth of 160 kilometers. The epicenter coordinates were 36.55°N latitude and 71.03°E longitude.

The tremors were felt at a considerable distance from the epicenter, including across Uzbekistan.

Residents of Surkhandarya region reported experiencing the earthquake at 2–3 points on the intensity scale, despite being 342 kilometers from the epicenter.

In other regions, tremors reached 2 points: Ferghana — 431 km, Syrdarya — 480 km, Jizzakh — 483 km, Andijan — 486 km, Samarkand — 496 km, Namangan — 498 km, Kashkadarya — 527 km, and in the capital Tashkent, 547 km southeast of the epicenter.
