Early warning systems for resilience to climate change were discussed in Bishkek

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 21 September, the Second High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change and Resilience in the Central Asian Region “Early Warning Systems for Climate Resilience” began in Bishkek.

The event is attended by a delegation of Uzbekistan led by the head of the secretariat of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Kadamboy Saitov.

“In the recently adopted strategy “Uzbekistan-2030”, a separate section is devoted to the issues and objectives of saving water resources and protecting the environment. Also increasing the level of early warning, reliability of forecasts, risks, reliability of agrometeorological forecasts to the maximum planned values,” said Kadamboy Saitov. “The most effective way to solve these problems is through increased regional cooperation and joint action,” he added.

It is worth noting that during the dialogue, special attention will be paid to early warning systems as a key factor in increasing resilience to climate change in the region.

For reference, early warning systems in the context of climate change serve as a critical tool for increasing resilience, reducing vulnerability and minimizing the socio-economic consequences of hazardous climate events.

The event highlighted the UN Secretary General’s Early Warning for All initiative, in which he called for a commitment to ensure that every person on Earth is protected by early warning systems by 2027.

The dialogue will also focus on regional changes and raising awareness of the risks of climate instability.
