Early Voting for Legislative Chamber elections to take place from 16 to 23 October

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Early voting for the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and deputies of regional, city, and district councils for voters who cannot be at their place of residence on election day will be organized from 16 to 23 October.

This decision was made by the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan at its meeting on October 8.

During the early voting days, polling stations will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends.

Early voting at polling stations located in Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad will also be conducted from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.

The CEC meeting also addressed issues related to ensuring the electoral rights of people with disabilities.

In the elections scheduled for 27 October, 11 candidates with disabilities have been registered for the Legislative Chamber, and 605 candidates for local councils, as reported by the CEC.

A total of 1,343 people with disabilities will work in the electoral commissions. More than 830,000 voters with disabilities will be assisted by volunteers during the elections.

The CEC approved a template for ballot filling based on the Braille alphabet and decided to install specialized booths for secret voting, magnifying glasses, and additional lighting for people with disabilities at polling stations.

Additionally, arrangements will be made for voting at the location of voters who are unable to come to the polling station independently.
