Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council at a meeting in Minsk today approved a comprehensive plan of measures in the field of health and sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Eurasian Economic Union, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“It is planned to exchange information, implement an agreed algorithm for responding to outbreaks of infectious diseases, jointly develop recommendations for laboratory research,” the EEC explained. “Joint scientific research is planned to ensure access to high-quality, safe, effective diagnostics and vaccines, as well as technical means for combating infectious diseases.”

It is planned to hold joint exercises for specialists from specialized organizations of the EAEU states to develop responses to outbreaks of known and new infectious diseases, posting official information on registered manufacturers of medical devices necessary to combat dangerous infections.

“The implementation of the measures included in the plan will help strengthen the unified potential of the health care system of the EAEU countries, which will be in demand in the union not only in the fight against COVID-19, but also other infectious diseases,” the EAEU stressed. "Implementation of joint activities of the comprehensive plan will help prevent possible future epidemics."
