Dubai authorities warn: Rise in offenses by Uzbek citizens may jeopardize visa-free regime

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 April, social media posts emerged claiming that Uzbek citizens had been denied entry upon arrival at Dubai airport.

According to users, some compatriots were turned back on the spot, with authorities citing a recent knife-related incident involving Uzbek nationals.

In an effort to clarify the situation, representatives of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in the UAE held a meeting with the leadership of Dubai’s Criminal Investigation Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

During the discussion, the Dubai side stated that an investigation is currently underway regarding the incident, and 15 Uzbek nationals have been detained as part of the case.

It was further noted that the increasing number of offenses committed by Uzbek citizens in recent times could put the current visa-free regime between Uzbekistan and the UAE at risk.

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry continues to address the issue in close coordination with the relevant law enforcement agencies.

In this regard, the ministry urged Uzbek citizens abroad to refrain from illegal actions that tarnish the honor and dignity of the country.
