Drivers in Uzbekistan receive notices for traffic violations from a year ago

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Drivers in Uzbekistan have begun receiving notifications about traffic violations committed in April 2024.

Posts expressing confusion and frustration have started to appear on social media, with many drivers surprised to receive penalty notices a month after the alleged violations occurred.

Zoyir Mirzaev, press secretary of the Road Safety Service (SBBD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, explained the situation to Gazeta.uz, noting that this was due to updates in the system servers.

According to him, certain administrative violations had not been displayed in the SBBD electronic database until the updates were completed. Afterward, decisions on violations recorded by automated means (cameras and radars) began to appear in the system.

He emphasized that administrative penalties could be imposed no later than one year after the violation, in accordance with Article 36 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. This means that all penalty notices sent to drivers are legitimate.

However, for violations committed more than a year ago but not recorded in time, no decisions will be issued, as this would contradict the law.

Zoyir Mirzaev also mentioned that within a week, all drivers whose violations were identified in the database should receive penalty notifications. He reminded that if the fine is paid within 15 days of receiving the notice, drivers are eligible for a 50% discount, and within 30 days, a 30% discount.
