Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis held a session to review the draft law "On Subsoil" in its second reading.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, as well as heads of enterprises and organizations under the ministry.
The draft law includes the introduction of a "one-stop-shop" principle for the process of issuing permits for subsoil use, receiving reports, and providing government services. It also emphasizes the importance of sustainable subsoil use, making the rational use of resources a responsibility of subsoil users.
The draft law proposes strengthening regulations related to the exploration and development of non-metallic mineral deposits, establishing a clear procedure for geological study and issuing permits for the extraction of non-metallic minerals. The concept of "cadastral area" is introduced in accordance with international practice.
Special attention was given to ensuring environmental safety in subsoil use. The draft law enhances regulations for mining and geological work, taking into account international standards of environmental and industrial safety.
Deputies noted that the adoption of the draft law would promote responsible geological study and use of subsoil, create modern production capacities, sustainable new jobs, and increase competitiveness in foreign markets.
The draft law was adopted by the deputies in the third reading.
