Draft law “On Personal Data” published for discussion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the portal of discussion of regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the draft law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Personal Data” was published.

The purpose of this Law is to protect human rights and freedoms by regulating relations in the field of processing personal data and establishing requirements for ensuring their safety.

The developer of the draft law is the State Center for Personalization under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the draft, this document regulates relations related to the processing of personal data, as well as ensuring their protection.

The validity of this Law does not apply to relations arising when:

- processing by individuals of their personal data exclusively for personal and family needs, not entailing the violation of the rights of other citizens;

- formation, storage and use of documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other archival documents containing personal data, in accordance with the legislation on archives;

- processing of personal data classified in accordance with the established procedure for information constituting state secrets;

- processing, storage and protection of personal data obtained during operational search, intelligence and counterintelligence activities, combating terrorism, protecting law and order, and also in the framework of counteracting the legalization of proceeds from criminal activities within the limits established by law.

Features of processing of personal data, carried out without the use of information technology, are established by law in accordance with the provisions of this Law.

Discussion of the draft of this law will last until 18 June.
