Draft law on legal assistance between Uzbekistan and the UAE approved by Legislative Chamber
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has reviewed and approved a draft law on the ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates on legal assistance in civil and commercial matters, signed in Tashkent on 27 September 2024.
In recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE has been developing dynamically. To date, 31 agreements have been signed between the two countries, covering areas such as extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, air transport, trade and economic relations, income tax exemption, as well as science and technology.
This particular agreement was signed on 17 September 2024, in Tashkent during a visit by a UAE delegation to Uzbekistan.
The document aims to establish a legal framework for cooperation in civil and commercial matters, ensuring that citizens of each country are granted equal rights with those of the other, including access to the courts and law enforcement bodies of both nations under applicable conditions.
In addition, the agreement outlines mechanisms for legal assistance in dispute resolution and the recognition of judicial decisions related to civil and commercial relations between citizens of both countries.
As noted by MP Shoira Rajabova, the agreement strengthens mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates and streamlines legal assistance in civil and commercial matters.
The draft law was passed by the deputies and submitted to the Senate for further consideration.
