Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law “On Amendments to the Land Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was conceptually discussed and approved in the first reading.
The draft law introduces stricter requirements for converting irrigated land to other categories and establishes specific conditions for the further use of such land.
Special provisions are introduced to divide agricultural land into two categories: agricultural land and land that supports agriculture.
Additionally, the draft law includes legal norms aimed at strictly protecting irrigated land, allowing such land to be repurposed only in cases of significant changes in water supply or soil quality.
The draft also provides a clear distinction between land plots in reserve and free land plots, which can be allocated to local authorities after the termination of land rights.
The adoption of the law would create a legal framework for placing agricultural service facilities on agricultural land, converting agricultural land to industrial land, and regulating payments for acquiring and using land.
The draft law was approved by lawmakers in the first reading.
