China 05/09/2023 Don’t try to catch - just catch!
Don’t try to catch - just catch!

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 July 2023, the first international conference on the dissemination and exchange of information on the Internet "Hello Silk Road" was successfully held in the city of Karamay of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (North-Western China).

The conference brought together over 200 scholars and experts in the field of international communication, representatives of Chinese and foreign media and Internet celebrities from more than 20 countries, who discussed the prospects for cooperation between China and countries along the Belt and Road in the field of international communication.

After the conference, various meetings and events were organized for all guests. The most memorable for me was when we ate lagman in an Uighur family. Media representatives from different countries gathered around a table laid almost in Uzbek style. Before our eyes, the dough was thinly rolled out, and after cooking, they were laid out on beautiful plates, and waja was added on top ...

In an instant, the pleasant smell of freshly prepared lagman filled the room. All those present praised and began to eat the lagman... If you haven’t tried such a lagman yet, it means you haven’t been born yet!

This day was another lesson for me. I tried to eat lagman with chopsticks, which the Chinese eat. But since before that I had never held these sticks - it was the first time in my life, I could not really use them.

Then the young Chinese translator who accompanied us asked:

"What are you doing?"

"I’m trying to catch the meat, lagman."

"Don’t try to catch - just catch!"

It inspired me and I learned how to eat with chopsticks...

After dinner, we talked with the owners of the house. They talked about their conditions, livelihood and lifestyle in general. We went out into the courtyard, and I really felt at home in Tashkent. The reason is that vines, basil, tomatoes, peppers and flowers were planted in the yard. And most importantly for me, I asked them in Uzbek, and they answered me in Uighur. We talked heart to heart and fully understood each other even without an interpreter…
