Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Recent dismissals of high-ranking officials within Uzbekistan’s law enforcement agencies are reportedly tied to the investigation into the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Presidential Administration’s Information Policy Department, according to UzA source.

General-Lieutenant Abdusalom Azizov, who had led the State Security Service (SSS) since February 2019, was relieved of his duties and replaced by Bahodir Kurbanov.

Additionally, Colonel Akhrorjon Atkhamov, the former head of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was dismissed by ministerial order.

Colonel Doniyor Tashkhodjaev, the first deputy head of Tashkent’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate, was also removed from his post. Lieutenant Colonel Timur Sobirov, who led the department combating organized crime within the Criminal Investigation Directorate, was similarly dismissed.

UzA’s source confirmed that these personnel changes are directly linked to the case of the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov.

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan announced on 25 November the arrest of additional suspects connected to the incident, which occurred on 26 October 2024.
