Director of MICA and the Secretary General of the OTS discuss prospects for the development of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) Javlon Vakhabov held a meeting via videoconference with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

During the conversation, the parties noted the progressive development of the activities of the OTS, emphasizing the growing dynamics of interaction in the fields of trade, transport, energy and tourism.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev noted the role of Uzbekistan in the development of the Organization, the increased intensity of interaction between member states during the period of the Uzbek chairmanship. The important contribution to the development of cooperation within OTS was emphasized by the implemented initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, such as the adoption of the “Program of Interconnectedness of the participating countries of the OTS in the field of transport” and the Joint “Road Map” for its implementation for 2023-2027, the Joint “ Road Map" for tourism, establishment of the "Forum of Young Entrepreneurs" platform.

The Secretary General of the OTS drew attention to the successful holding of the 3rd Tashkent International Investment Forum in early May and the speech of the Uzbek leader at it. “I was greatly impressed by the speech of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the International Investment Forum in Tashkent, as well as his solid results,” noted Omuraliev.

High marks were given to the promotion of regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, primarily within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of the region, as well as the expansion of interaction with leading countries and associations in the “Central Asia Plus” format.

During the exchange of views on the interaction of analytical centers of the OTS countries, the Secretary General emphasized the need to strengthen expert support on key priorities for the development of multilateral cooperation.

He welcomed the participation of MICA in the meeting of the Official Centers for Foreign Policy Research of the OTS, which is planned to be organized on the eve of the 11th summit of the Organization in Kyrgyzstan.
