Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 23 May 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Dilyor Khakimov held talks with President of the MasterCard division on emerging markets and Europe George Simon and manager for Georgia and Central Asia, Igor Stepanov.

MasterCard is a US multinational financial corporation whose main business is processing payments between merchant banks and card issuing banks or credit unions of customers that use Mastercard debit, credit and prepaid brands to make purchases.

As noted during the past negotiations, changes in the banking and financial sector of Uzbekistan have created favorable conditions for a radical improvement in the national payment settlement system.

Representatives of the company stressed their readiness to quickly deploy MasterCard cards in the Humo national payment infrastructure being created in Uzbekistan these days.

During the negotiations, the parties agreed on a number of steps to expand the possibilities of using MasterCard. In particular, the MasterCard payment system will be available through smart PIN-pads, mobile terminals and fixed terminals. In order to achieve rapid adaptation, the company will assist through programs to improve the financial literacy of the population of Uzbekistan.

Another important point of discussion was the question of the interaction of our country with MasterCard for the speedy implementation of a set of joint activities for the withdrawal of national Humo payment cards for international payments.
