Golibsher Ziyayev said in interview to infoCOM.uz journal that it is planned to install complexes of digital television transmitters in Namangan, Ferghana and Surkhandarya regions with the cost of US$2.5 million.
He underlined that in the result, the level of coverage of population with digital television will exceed 50%.
Ziyayev said that Uzbekistan installed digital television transmitters in Navoi, Surkhandarya,Syrdarya and Ferghana regions in 2012, additionally to those in Tashkent city, Bukhara, Samarkand, Khorezm, Andijan, Kashkadarya regions and Karakalpakstan. The coverage of population with digital television reached 42%.
He said that the center continued to install complexes of digital television transmitters in Tashkent, Ferghana, Khorezm and Jizzakh regions in 2013.
Golibsher Ziyayev noted that this helped to increase the level of coverage of population with digital television made up 45%.
Ziyayev stated that the center created a pilot zone of digital television of new standard DVB-T2 in Tashkent city.
Uzbekistan is moving to digital television in Uzbekistan in two stages (I stage – 2012-2015 and II stage – in 2016-2017). Till the end of 2017, Uzbekistan plans to cover all population with digital television.
