Different varieties of blackberries are being tested in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At present, scientific research is being carried out at the Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after Academician M. Mirzaev on the valuable economic and biological properties of 3 varieties of blackberries: Texas, Chester and Chester Thornles". In this area, cooperation has been established with the farm "May Agro".

Farm "May Agro" was established in 2019. It grows a variety of blackberries "Chester" on 1 hectare of land. This variety is planted according to the scheme 3x1.20 cm and irrigated with drip irrigation. Researchers of the department "Breeding and variety study of fruit crops" of the Institute constantly visit the farm and give their recommendations. They provide practical assistance in carrying out soil analysis and studying the chemical composition of fruits.

Blackberry is a plant from the crimson family. In Uzbekistan, it grows along the banks of rivers and ditches. Rarely found in cultivation. The blackberry fruit is rich in vitamins: carotenoid, folic acid (vitamin B9), vitamin C, vitamin K and a small amount of vitamin E. In addition, blackberries contain minerals - potassium, copper, calcium, magnesium and zinc.

The blackberry does not give root stepchildren, and its branches along the ground take root from links or ends and form new shoots. High-yielding blackberry varieties with large fruits were bred by I. V. Michurin. These varieties are grown in gardens created by amateur gardeners.
